Uniting to build civilized urban

To implement “All people unite to build new-style rural and civilized urban areas” campaign, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of An Thoi Ward, Binh Thuy District cooperated with member organizations to mobilize people to contribute to constructing infrastructures, embellishing the urban and taking care their lives. All of these helped exploit resources and contributed to creating a new look of a civilized urban ward.

Several routes in An Thoi Ward have been upgraded, helping to create a more civilized urban scene.

The Committee cooperated with member organizations to build infrastructure that would allow people to travel easily. According to Mr. Pham Hong Nhan, Chairman of the VFF Committee of An Thoi Ward, in 2021, An Thoi Ward officials cooperated in implementing the social mobilization to upgrade 13 lanes and 2 drainage systems worth 10.5 billion VND and 312 billion VND, respectively. In addition, they socially mobilized the support of 300 million VND to upgrade the Cultural House of Area 5.

Moreover, in 2021, the Commitee cooperated in mobilizing gifts of 525 million VND for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in Tet holidays; building 3 Great Unity houses valued at 280 million VND; introducing 610 households to get loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to develop economy and so on. Currently, the ward has 10 poor households and 12 near-poor ones.

When the pandemic struck, the VFF at all levels in the ward, as well as its member organizations, worked together to mobilize individuals and organizations to support the implementation of the program "Share love - warmth during the COVID-19 pandemic." In fact, the Ward gave 11,626 gifts, 14,154 meals, 34,250 kg of vegetables, etc. with a total value of 1.8 billion VND.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Nhan, Chairman of the VFF Committee of An Thoi Ward, the Committee continues to cooperate to effectively carry out the "All people unite to build new-style rural and civilized urban areas" campaign in association with improving the quality of criteria for a civilized urban ward.  It will focus on upgrading deteriorated routes, alleys and drainage systems; installing lighting systems in alleys with poor lighting; mobilizing people not to sell or place products on the roadsides; and building “bright - green - clean - beautiful” routes and alleys. At the same time, it will promote social welfare such as constructing houses for people in need, mobilizing gifts to support poor and near-poor households, etc.
