Can Tho offers hundreds of gifts to returning migrant women and children affected by COVID-19 epidemic

In the afternoon of December 2, at the One-Stop Service Office (OSSO), the Vietnam Women’s Union in Can Tho city organized a program to support returning migrant women and children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, in Can Tho city and its neighboring provinces, many migrant women have been returning to their homeland due to unstable jobs, divorce and many other problems when living abroad. However, returning home during the COVID-19 pandemic, they encounter many difficulties.

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Vietnamese capacity for sustainable reintegration of returning women migrants and their households”, this activity aims to offer 200 gifts as a symbol of love sharing, which is worth 300,000 VND each, for married and labor migrant women in Korea returning to Vietnam in Can Tho city. Also, there is an expert here giving free counseling, consultation, and support services on difficulties that women encounter when returning.

President of the Vietnam Women’s Union in Can Tho City, Vo Kim Thoa, said that when the COVID-19 epidemic was widespread, the provincial women’s unions have mobilized tens of thousands of gifts, more than 32 billion VND in total, to support those in need, frontline forces. With these gifts, the unit hopes to continue sharing symbols of love with more women.

Expert gives free counseling, consultation, and support services on difficulties that women encounter when returning

Normally, the OSSO provides returning migrant women free counseling, consultation, and support services on issues that they may encounter when returning such as legal advice, psychological assistance, education and training, employment, loan support, health, and medical care. However, jobless causes more difficulties for them in this time, the unit will support them to have a better and safer live, said Vo Kim Thoa.
